Nominations Open for the 10th Polymer International-IUPAC Award

The Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), in partnership with Polymer International and the IUPAC Polymer Division, invites nominations for the Polymer International – IUPAC Award 2026.

This prestigious award recognises creativity and excellence in applied polymer science or polymer technology and will be presented at the IUPAC World Polymer Congress (MACRO 2026) in Malaysia.

The award recipient will deliver a keynote lecture at the conference and contribute a Review article to Polymer International.

Award

The winner will receive:

  • $5,000 cash prize
  • Up to $3,000 travel support to attend MACRO 2026
  • Invitation to deliver an award lecture (keynote) at the conference
  • Formal recognition at the award ceremony

The prize money will be awarded upon submission of a Review article to Polymer International.

Publication

The award recipient will be invited to submit a Review article to Polymer International based on their lecture, providing a high-visibility platform to showcase their work to the global polymer community.

Eligibility

Nominees should:

  • Have made a significant, innovative contribution to polymer science
  • Be within ~15 years of PhD completion (career breaks considered)

  • Confirmation of eligibility (e.g., career stage if relevant, within 15 years of receiving their Phd)
  • A summary of the nominee’s scientific achievements and impact
  • A copy of the nominated paper or a small collection of previously published high impact works.
  • Supporting information (e.g. key publications, patents, or contributions)
  • A short statement describing the significance of the work
  • Recommendation letter to highlight why the nominee should be considered for the awards.

Selection Process

The winner will be selected by a Scientific Committee representing:

  • Polymer International
  • The IUPAC Polymer Division

Nominations will be evaluated based on:

  • Scientific excellence
  • Innovation and originality
  • Impact on polymer science
  • Relevance to the scope of Polymer International
