2026 Franzosini Prize and Balarew Award – Call for Nominations

Since 2023 the Franzosini Prize and the Balarew Award are offered annually by the Subcommittee on Solubility Equilibrium Data (SSED) in recognition of outstanding and sustained contributions to the field of critical evaluation of data in solubility and related chemical equilibria and for an outstanding young scientist working in the field.

2026 Franzosini Prize – Call for Nominations

The Subcommittee on Solubility Equilibrium Data (SSED) established the Franzosini Prize to be presented to researchers working in the areas of solubility and/or homogeneous system equilibrium data. The awardees must attend the International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP), the biannual conference organized by the SSED.

The recipient should be a senior researcher. The application can only be made by at least one sponsor who must fill out the online form to identify themselves as well as the nominee. Each nomination should be completed online and accompanied by a letter of support providing a brief statement of the nominee’s achievements, supporting their nomination, including a brief curriculum vitae with a list of publications. Self-nomination is not accepted.

The SSED Awards Committee will review each nomination and consider the candidate’s curriculum vitae and whether the candidate’s research is in areas associated to SSED activities. The publications are not the most important criterion, and the Committee will consider the impact of their research and the breadth of the research. In keeping with the original terms of the Franzosini Prize, each preselected candidate will be asked to write a statement explaining their future involvement in SSED and IUPAC activities. The Award Committee will also take this statement into account in making the award.

Winner of the 2026 Franzosini Prize will be announced during the annual meeting of the Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data that occurs in conjunction with the 22nd International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP22, https://issp2026-igicsofia.uniburgas.bg/), in Sofia, Bulgaria, 31 August to 3 September 2026, and will be invited to give a research presentation during ISSP22.

The nomination deadline for the Franzosini Prize is 30 April 2026 .
