Call for Applications to Host the IUPAC MACRO2032
Overview
The IUPAC World Polymer Congress (WPC, also known as MACRO) is the largest global conference in polymer science. It is a biennial event organized by the IUPAC Polymer Division and typically rotates among Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Upcoming World Polymer Congresses will be held in Kuching, Malaysia (2026), Strasbourg, France (2028), and Santiago de Chile, Chile (2030).
The call for applications opens six years in advance of the planned World Polymer Congress. To host a World Polymer Congress, an application must be submitted to the Polymer Division. A presentation must also be delivered at a Polymer Division meeting by a representative of the host organization to address any questions.
Applications for MACRO2032 will be presented during the Polymer Division meeting in Kuching, Malaysia, on 27–28 July 2026.
Components of Application
- Organizing institution(s), including the involvement of the National Adhering Organization of the host country
- Local organizing committee
- Experience in organization events similar to a WPC
- Proposed WPC location
- Facilities for SPT/SPEd and Polymer Division meetings held prior to a WPC
- Accommodation
- Travel accessibility
- Tentative dates
- Any relevant information that can be provided six years in advance of the WPC (e.g., scientific program, social program, planned speakers)
