Chemistry International Volume 47, Issue 3

TOC and full issue on degruyterbrill.com/ci

cover: A recent project of the Chemistry and Human Health Division examined the trend in financial support for medicinal chemistry projects in academia over the last decade. The study underscores an urgent need to address the funding crisis in medicinal chemistry. The authors advocate for immediate intervention by funding agencies, government bodies, and industry leaders to reinstate financial support and safeguard the future of medicinal chemistry. Without corrective measures, the authors argue that the decline in funding could have long-term consequences on drug discovery, pharmaceutical innovation, and global healthcare outcomes especially within developed countries.
