IUPAC Endorsement of ICSU’s Call to Rescind the Executive Order “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States”

The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, IUPAC, is the global organization that provides objective scientific expertise and develops the essential tools for the application and communication of chemical knowledge for the benefit of humankind and the world. IUPAC accomplishes its mission by advocating the free exchange of scientific information. IUPAC therefore operates through open collaboration and communication and strives for diversity and inclusiveness in all forms. IUPAC endorses and organizes conferences around the world in locations that ensure freedom for all bona fide chemists from anywhere in the world to participate. IUPAC views actions anywhere in the world that restrict travel to and from certain countries as being in conflict with free and open scientific exchange. Therefore IUPAC, as a member of the International Council for Science, ICSU, endorses ICSU’s call on the government of the United States of America to rescind the executive order, “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States,”
