The postage stamp illustrated above, depicting the crystal structure of sodium chloride, was issued in the United Kingdom in 1977 to mark the centennial of the Royal Institute of Chemistry and the 1915 Nobel Prize in Physics shared by Sir William H. Bragg and his son William L. Bragg “for their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays”.
