Each year IUPAC endorses a large number of independently organized conferences, symposiums and workshops that cover a wide range of specialized topics in chemistry. Endorsement by IUPAC attests to the quality of the scientific program and indicates the host country’s assurance that scientists from all countries may participate. See program details. Since 2016, an intensive course on Science, technology, society and Wikipedia for PhD students has been held at the Polytechnic University of Milan (PoliMi), Italy.

The course aims to provide some hands-on training in technical writing and, at the same time, to contribute to the general diffusion of scientific and technical knowledge. These will be achieved by engaging Politecnico’s Ph.D. students in the production of new material (or revision of existing one) for Wikipedia.

Limited funding to allow in-person participation is available. Online participation is also possible and encouraged.
