Gerry Moss has been awarded the status of Emeritus Fellow in Division VIII. This appointment reflects his standing as a scientist and continuing service to the division and to the Union.
Gerard (Gerry) P. Moss is a member of IUPAC since 1977 firstly with Commission III.1 Commission on Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry including Chairman 1981-87. Also with IUPAC-IUBMB Joint Commission on Biochemical Nomenclature since 1978, Chairman since 2013. Member of Division VIII, President 2006-09, and also of ICTNS since 2010. Since 1995 created a nomenclature web site of mainly organic and biochemical nomenclature including the ‘Blue Book’ [Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry (IUPAC Recommendations and Preferred IUPAC Names 2013)] with corrections and later modifications incorporated. A consultant on nomenclature for British Approved Names, US Approved Names and WHO. He is a retired senior lecturer in chemistry at Queen Mary University of London.
