Project Details Nomenclature, Properties and Units of Trace Elements

Project No.:
710-28-95
Start Date:
01 January 1995
End Date:
31 December 1999

Objective

Trace elements constitute an important part of toxicology, environmental sciences and clinical chemistry. However, there is not any international standard on the syntax, nomenclature and units related with the properties of trace elements. Thus, the involvement of IUPAC in the production of a recommendation on this matter will be very helpful to the scientific community.

Progress

A report has been prepared by R. Cornelis, X. Fuentes-Arderiu, I.Bruunshuus, and D. Templeton, and entitled: ‘Properties and unitsin the clinical laboratory sciences. IX. Properties and units intrace elements’, published in:

Pure Appl. Chem. 1997 , 69, 2593 – 2606
