Summary

As part of the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast – Many Voices, One Science, this online event brings together secondary school students from two Portuguese schools — Agrupamento de Escolas Nuno Gonçalves and Agrupamento de Escolas de Vila Nova de Cerveira — to reflect on what it means to be a scientist today.
The session emphasizes active student participation, encouraging the exchange of ideas and perspectives on science, scientific careers, and the role of women in science. Students will engage in dialogue across schools, highlighting the value of diverse voices within a shared scientific community.
The event will feature a talk by Dr. Ruth Pereira, who will present her research work, share her career path, and discuss leadership in science, including her experience as a woman leading a research group.
This initiative celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by promoting inclusion, dialogue, and inspiration among the next generation of scientists.
