Summary
We will host a breakfast gathering starting at 9:30 a.m. and invite the entire community of the Institute of Chemistry at Unicamp to participate in a conversation aimed at encouraging reflection, dialogue, and the strengthening of networks that promote gender equity in science. We will have two special guests: Prof. Marilda Bottesi, who led a Unicamp study that provided a comprehensive overview of gender representation in the institution’s scientific production over a five-year period. This unprecedented research, conducted by the Office of the Vice-Rector and the Library System, revealed that between 2019 and 2023, 58% of the university’s publications were authored by men and only 42% by women. We will also welcome Dr. Cristiane Vidal, technical manager of a research laboratory at the Institute of Chemistry, who will share her experiences and perspectives on women’s roles in scientific careers.
