Summary
The meeting will be dedicated to Vera Alexandrovna Dzis'ko, an outstanding scientist who made significant contributions to catalysis. Her remarkable biography impressed today's scientists. During the winter of 1941, she, together with G.K. Boreskov, helped launch a chemical plant in the Urals under harsh wartime conditions, working in a cold, dark hangar and enduring starvation. After relocating to Novosibirsk in the 1960s, she founded the first laboratory for catalyst preparation in the country. Under her leadership, this lab became a cornerstone of the Soviet scientific school focused on catalyst preparation. She authored the book Fundamentals of Methods for Preparation of Catalysts (1983), a key resource for generations of scientists. Her pioneering work laid the foundation for advancements in chemical engineering, including active aluminum oxide and low-temperature vanadium catalysts for sulfuric acid production, leaving an enduring legacy in modern science.
