Summary
This year’s event, "Women in Chemistry Breakfast Meeting: Accelerating Equity in Science" is designed to promote fruitful conversations on developing inclusive and equitable learning environments in the teaching of chemistry targets lecturers from higher institutions, teachers from high schools, industrialists, policy makers from the government parastatals and students (University and high schools). With a focus on the value of diversity, accessibility, and representation in chemistry classrooms and laboratories in a bid to unify learning strategies, experts from the academia and Ministry of Education will discuss methods for incorporating equity pedagogy into instructional methodologies. Participants will discuss strategies to close gaps in chemistry education, especially for underrepresented groups (girls), and ensure every student succeeds. And work together to create actionable steps for incorporating equity pedagogy into course materials, evaluations, and student involvement.
