Each year IUPAC endorses a large number of independently organized conferences, symposiums and workshops that cover a wide range of specialized topics in chemistry. Endorsement by IUPAC attests to the quality of the scientific program and indicates the host country’s assurance that scientists from all countries may participate. See program details.

Summer School on Analytical Science, Metrology and Accreditation

  • This event has passed.

This unique International Summer School on Analytical Science, Metrology and Accreditation is organised by the Measurement Science in Chemistry consortium, which is a cooperation of universities. The school has shown to attract a variety of people, ranging from master to doctoral students, but also people who already are employed in a laboratory.

It has a long tradition. It was initiated in 2008 by the European Commission Joint Research Centre, in view of the importance of quality assured analytical measurement data for many European policies. In 2017 it will be the 10th year that this summer school takes place.

Typically some 40 people come together for a two week intensive school to learn about how to obtain quality in chemical or bio-analytical measurements by understanding and practicing how to apply the international standard (ISO/IEC-17025) and of the role of metrology and accreditation.

In 2017, The school will take place in Druskinkai, Lithuania, some 130 km both from the capital Vilnius and the city of Kaunas. Both cities have an international airport and several low budget carriers serve these cities.
