Each year IUPAC endorses a large number of independently organized conferences, symposiums and workshops that cover a wide range of specialized topics in chemistry. Endorsement by IUPAC attests to the quality of the scientific program and indicates the host country’s assurance that scientists from all countries may participate. See program details. In addition, the calendar below includes webinars and workshops related to specific IUPAC projects or joint activities with associated organizations.

Chemistry that transforms, science that connects

Congreso de Química Costa Rica 2026

This Congress aims to bring together academic and industry researchers, government officials, and the general public to share scientific information and promote international collaboration. The special collaboration with the Network for the Analysis of Environmental Quality in Latin America (RACAL) will bring additional, very interesting research on environmental issues.
The selected motto is “Chemistry that transforms, science that connects”. This topic is highly relevant at present and aims to show how Chemistry is changing the world we live in in a positive and constructive way.

Moreover, the aims and scope of the conference are related with the Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations, especially the goals 4, 6, 7, 11, 13 and 17. As Chemistry is a central science and most of the selected topics are trending issues in Sustainability, this Congress will present innovative solutions to current global challenges.

The scientific program is divided in 9 areas:

  • Organic Chemistry
  • Inorganic and Polymer Chemistry
  • Physical Chemistry
  • Environmental and Analytic Chemistry
  • Biochemistry
  • Teaching of Chemistry
  • Agricultural and Food Chemistry
  • Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
  • Medicinal Chemistry

All these areas were selected as relevant in today’s applicability for academic and industrial research, both national and international.
