Each year IUPAC endorses a large number of independently organized conferences, symposiums and workshops that cover a wide range of specialized topics in chemistry. Endorsement by IUPAC attests to the quality of the scientific program and indicates the host country’s assurance that scientists from all countries may participate. See program details. In addition, the calendar below includes webinars and workshops related to specific IUPAC projects or joint activities with associated organizations.

27th International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics

The main goals of the ICCT conferences are to provide a forum to discuss the latest advances, promote and accelerate collaborations, and extend the impact of thermodynamics and attract young scientists worldwide to encourage research cooperation. The series initially organized by IUPAC Commission I.2 on Thermodynamics, has been carried on by the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics (IACT).  The conference focuses on development of analytical methods based on thermodynamic principles, and on applying those method to novel systems.  A substantial element of the conference has always related to dissemination of scientific data; at this year it will connects with the current WorldFAIR efforts. More generally, the techniques at the core of the conference are essential to many fields, including materials science, biophysics and chemical process design. The topics of the Conference have been carefully chosen to show the recognised importance and broader applications of chemical thermodynamics.

The technical sessions for ICCT2025 will be held at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto, providing a dynamic and inspiring setting for meaningful discussions and the exchange of knowledge among researchers and industry professionals in the field of Chemical Thermodynamics. This event is proudly organized by the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto, in partnership with the Portuguese Society of Chemistry (SPQ).
