Join us for a live discussion with Javier García Martínez

Chemistry is a global endeavour that has greatly contributed to improving our quality of life. From climate change to our dependence on finite natural resources, many of our most global challenges require a technical solution that only discoveries in science and technology, and in particular chemistry, can provide.
But if these discoveries remain in the laboratory and don’t reach people, the solutions we need may take too long to be implemented, if at all. That is why entrepreneurship is another important part of the equation in unleashing the power of science to tackle our most pressing problems. There is still a significant gap between academia and industry that needs to be bridged by bold entrepreneurs able to connect these two worlds and successfully commercialize the new and exciting research carried out in universities.
IUPAC and De Gruyter are delighted to host a webinar focused on entrepreneurship in chemistry. The event will feature a presentation from leading chemistry entrepreneur Prof. Javier García Martínez. To provide further insights from his experience, Javier will be interviewed by Dr Miguel Jimenez, Assistant Professor at Boston University and head of el Microbial Integration Group.
Examples and different ideas on how to accelerate the discovery and application of chemical breakthroughs will be shared, hopefully sparking a lively and constructive discussion . There will also be opportunities for audience participation and a live question-and-answer session. This is the first of a series of webinars that are part of the IUPAC project “Chemistry Entrepreneurship” 2023-012-2-022, chaired by Prof. Bipul Saha and Prof. Hemda Garelick.
