The Subcommittee on Solubility Equilibrium Data (SSED) presents since 2023 the Balarew Award to be awarded to a young scientist working in the areas of solubility and/or homogeneous equilibrium data.
Nominations are invited for the Balarew Award for an Outstanding Young Scientist working in the field of solubility and/or related chemical equilibria.
The application can only be made by, at least, one sponsor.
Each nomination should be completed online and accompanied by a letter of support providing a brief statement of the nominee’s achievements, supporting their nomination, including a brief curriculum vitae with a list of recent publications.
Self-nomination is not accepted
Each nomination should be completed on this FORM.
The SSED Awards Committee will review each nomination.
Analysis of nominations
The Award Committee will consider the following:
• whether the candidate’s research is in areas associated to SSED activities;
• the candidate’s curriculum vitae
Winner of the 2025 Balarew Award for Outstanding Young Scientists will be announced during the annual meeting of the Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data that occurs in conjunction with the 39th International Conference on Solution Chemistry (39ICSC), in Monastir, Tunisia, on the 14th September 2025.
The winner must give a research presentation during the International Symposium on Solubility and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP21) in Bulgaria in 2026.
A brief description of the awardee’s work will be published in Chemistry International and on the IUPAC website.
The Nominations deadline for the Balarew Award is 30 June 2025.
