Shaimaa Goher is a graduate student at the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Benha University. She is pursuing her master in the field of Medicinal Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Bahaa El-Gendy.

After completing her B.Sc. degree, Shaimaa was awarded the prestigious fellowship “Scientists for next generation” awarded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt. She is Alumni of the 67th Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting dedicated to Chemistry that was held in Lindau, Germany 2017. She is also a Robert Bosch Foundation’s fellow at the European Forum Alpbach that was held in Austria this year.

Her research interests include Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design. Her main research focuses on developing small molecules modulators for Nuclear Hormone Receptors called Liver X Receptors (LXR) to treat fatty liver diseases, cancer, and HCV.

Her motivation to science is to genuinely contribute to the prosperity of our world by providing a solution to the challenging problems and diseases we face worldwide using the scope of Chemistry and drug design. She eagerly seeks knowledge and understanding the fundamentals of Science and its potential impact on our societies and lives.
