The measurement of water quality is of paramount importance to human health. Despite being a theoretically easy matrix to analyze, water analyses are often in wide disagreement among laboratories. The IMEP-6 programme examined water analytical data quality on a global scale using certified test samples with reference values determined by a primary method of measurement (isotope dilution mass spectrometry).
